Ahren Belisle was a comedian from Season 18 of America's Got Talent. He finished in the Bottom 6 of the Top 11.

Background[]

Twenty-eight-year-old Ahren Belisle, from northern Ontario, Canada, is a software engineer and mental health advocate turned comedian. Born with cerebral palsy, Ahren is a nonverbal comedian who uses his phone to deliver his jokes. He began pursuing comedy a little more than a year ago and has already had major success, with hundreds of thousands of followers on social media, but is taking it to a new level on “AGT.” Ahren hopes to continue spreading positivity and to show people that there is no barrier when pursuing dreams. His performance on the “AGT” stage inspired and wowed the judges as they praised his humor and originality, and he hopes to be the first comedian to win the competition.

Ahren Belisle's audition in Episode 1803 consisted of performing a stand-up comedy routine using the text-to-speech feature on his cell phone. All 4 judges voted "Yes", sending him to the next round.

Deliberations[]

Ahren was chosen to advance to the Semifinals.

Semifinals[]

Ahren Belisle's Semifinals performance in Episode 1812 consisted of performing a stand-up routine about living with his disability and his service dog. Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara gave him standing ovations. He received enough votes to enter the top 5 of the night in Episode 1813 instead of Andrew Stanton, and the top 3 instead of Alfie Andrew and Ryland. He advanced to the Final along with Murmuration instead of Chioma & The Atlanta Drum Academy.

Finals[]

Ahren Belisle's Finals performance in Episode 1820 consisted of performing a stand-up routine about having to compete against Murmuration, trying to get a green card, his disability, his experiences at a theme park, the difficulty of ordering food at a restaurant and his service dog. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave him standing ovations.

Finale[]

In the Episode 1821 finale, Ahren starred in a comedy sketch about how he messed with the other acts and the judges (including Mel B) by stealing Simon Cowell's iPad with his pre-loaded phrases from when he lost his voice. He did not receive enough votes to enter the top 5, eliminating him from the competition instead of Adrian Stoica and Hurricane.

Trivia[]

  • Ahren is the first act to advance to the finals since the format change in Season 17 despite not getting standing ovations from all four judges in the Semi-Final.
