Alex Dowis was a blacklight painter from Season 14 of America's Got Talent. He was eliminated in the Semifinals in the Judges' Choice.
Background[]
Alex Dowis is an artist from the Czech Republic who has participated in a wide range of theater and film productions in his home country and abroad. Alex has been painting since childhood. A large part of his early work consists of wall paintings based mainly on graffiti and street art.
From 2000 to 2003, Alex Dowis was involved in the operation of a music club and the production of dozens of cultural events throughout the Czech Republic. He is also the founder of Depo Crew and Hip Hop Kemp. Since 2003 he has also been active in Prague's Archa Theater.
He performs with his Light Art Show at TaFantastika Theater in Prague. Among other things, Alex devotes himself to film decorations and scenography, and he is sought after to work on advertising campaigns. His other activities include live sand art and speed painting exhibitions, as well as workshops at various exhibitions and social events. [1]
He was a contestant on the 2012 season of the Czech/Slovak version of Got Talent, finishing 2nd.

Alex Dowis' audition was not televised however Alex himself later uploaded his audition to YouTube. His audition consisted of him telling his journey to get to America's Got Talent. Although Simon Cowell voted "No", Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, and Julianne Hough voted "Yes", sending him to the Judge Cuts. Audition

Alex Dowis' Judge Cuts performance in Episode 1408 consisted of creating a tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough, Simon Cowell, and guest judge Dwyane Wade all gave him standing ovations. His performance was strong enough to advance to the Quarterfinals along with Ryan Niemiller.

Alex Dowis' Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1411 consisted of creating a painting of the evolution of humanity. Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough, and Simon Cowell all gave him standing ovations. Alex earned enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1412 instead of Carmen Carter.

Alex Dowis' Semifinals performance in Episode 1419 consisted of creating a visual tribute to the first responders of 9/11. Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough, Simon Cowell and guest judge Queen Latifah all gave him standing ovations. Alex finished in 4th, 5th or 6th place in America's Vote. In the Dunkin' Save, he received fewer online votes than Ryan Niemiller. In the Judges' Choice, Howie Mandel voted for him but Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough and Simon Cowell did not, eliminating him from the competition in Episode 1420 instead of Emanne Beasha.
After the Show[]
Later in 2019, Alex Dowis appeared on the sixth season of the Italian competition series Tu Si Que Vales. [2]
Alex Dowis has auditioned at Das Supertalent [3]and France's Got Talent [4]in 2020. In Early 2021, Alex reached the Final of the sixth season of Got Talent España and ultimately placed seventh. In 2022 Alex competed on Romania's Got Talent where he received a golden buzzer from the show's hosts Smiley & Pavel.

- Since the changed format in Season 10, Alex is the second semifinalist whose audition never aired, the first being Blake Vogt from Season 11.
- He is the highest placing act in Season 14 to get a "No" vote in the auditions.
