Ansley Burns was a singer from Season 14 of America's Got Talent. She was eliminated in the Judge Cuts, but returned as a wildcard in the Quarterfinals. Ansley was eliminated again in the Semifinals.

Background[]

Ansley Burns is 13 years old and from Easley, South Carolina. She began singing at the age of three, aiming to become a recording artist. Since she started vocal lessons at eight, she has performed at local events, churches and competitions. Ansley was the winner of Best Singer in the State of South Carolina, Youth Division 2017, and she has won many other competitions to date. Ansley recently went viral for her cover of "Cry Pretty" by Carrie Underwood, with the video reaching over 1.4 million views on Facebook and even getting the attention of Underwood herself! During her audition for America's Got Talent, Simon said Ansley is someone he will remember and a ray of sunshine! She's just a small-town girl with big dreams, and she hopes to see them come true on the America's Got Talent stage! [1]

Ansley Burns' audition in Episode 1404 consisted of singing Aretha Franklin's "Think". After she began singing, Simon Cowell asked for the backing track to stop playing. She then proceeded to sing the song again a cappella. Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough, and Simon all voted "yes," sending Ansley to the Judge Cuts.

Judge Cuts[]

Ansley Burns' Judge Cuts performance in Episode 1409 consisted of singing Carrie Underwood's "Good Girl". Halfway through the song, Simon Cowell asked for the backing track to stop playing. She then proceeded to sing the song again a cappella. Her performance was not strong enough to advance to the Quarterfinals, eliminating her from the competition along with Jacob Norton. However, she was chosen as one of the Quarterfinal Wild Card acts, reinstating her into the Quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals[]

Ansley Burns' Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1411 consisted of singing LeAnn Rimes "Swingin'". Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough, and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations. Ansley finished in 7th, 8th or 9th place in America's Vote. In the Dunkin' Save, she received more online votes than Emerald Belles and Sophie Pecora, advancing to the Semifinals in Episode 1412.

Semifinals[]

Ansley Burns' Semifinals performance in Episode 1417 consisted of singing Carrie Underwood's "Cry Pretty". Ansley did not receive enough votes to advance to the Finals in Episode 1418, eliminating her from the competition along with Eric Chien instead of Benicio Bryant.

After The Show[]

Ansley auditioned for the 22nd season of The Voice. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani turned around for her; however, she defaulted to Blake's team after he blocked Gwen. She was ultimately eliminated in the Battle Rounds.

  • Since the format change in Season 10, Ansley is the third Wild Card to progress past the Quarterfinal round, the first two being Steven Brundage from Season 11 and Daniel Emmet from Season 13.
  • Ansley is the first singing act to be halted by Simon twice.
