Why was 10 so bad, I love that season
Well, I've only been actively watching AGT since Season 7, so I only think Season 10 is the worst that I've actually seen in full; I imagine some of the older seasons are worse (I've seen snippets of them online, Season 4 in particular looks like a mess).
As for why I didn't like Season 10...first of all, I wasn't a huge fan of any of the acts aside from maybe Siro-A. Paul Zerdin was an alright winner and he probably deserved it (his Semifinals performance was great), but I don't care for him that much compared to most of the other winners I've watched. Also, Season 10's Finals were the worst I've seen. That was one of AGT's most disappointing live episodes, in my opinion.
The much bigger reason why I don't like Season 10, though, is that it started a bunch of format changes that have actively made AGT worse; Judge Cuts instead of Vegas/Judgement Week, Top 36 instead of Top 48, only 1 Wild Card in the Semifinals, no additional round between the Semifinals and Finals, etc. There are so many acts that have been unfairly eliminated in the Judge Cuts since they were introduced, and there's nothing that can be done about it because there are so few slots in the live shows now. In earlier seasons, those acts would've had much more of a chance to redeem themselves because of more slots in the live shows, the Wild Card round, etc., but now you just have to hope that the judges/producers/whoever happen to give them one of the three Wild Card spots available in the ENTIRE Quarterfinals. Acts that get eliminated in the Quarterfinals have it even worse (Exhibit A: Mochi ;-;). And all of that doesn't even include all of the acts that get through auditions only to never be seen again, when Vegas/Judgement Week used to make it a point to show as many acts as possible.
Season 10 was the worst Season on the whole
But Season 14 had the worst Finals and the worst Final 2 ever
The reason why season 4 is the worst was because Britain's got talent overshadowed the crap out of it. I respectfully disagree with you megaman though. Siro-a should have made the finals.
Freckled sky blew it, they deserved to be eliminated. Their audition was the only good performance.
they deserved to at least make the semifinals
they didnt deserved to be screwed over for the likes of three shades of blue who dont belong in the lives anyway.
that was the final straw on howard stern with me when he did that
i agree with the champions version though, the champions version sucked
Here it is, if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1olbd0lhY9I And here is another video featuring their edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hjAg9n5bPGg (From about 0:13 to 0:26) Anyway, onto my reasoning.
Firstly, the song choice was scrubbed. Str8jacket's routine appeared to be set to Pentatonix's cover of "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy," which is a huge change in tone from the music that was used in their edit, which I still cannot find for the life of me! That is a problem, because due to that, some snippets of choreography needed to be slowed down so that it fit the new song's rhythm! The producers changed their music from smooth a capella to obscure dance-pop!
Secondly, the choreography was scrubbed. Just watch the two videos above and compare the order of which the choreography occurs in. It's different, isn't it? Very different. Frustratingly different! Moves are shown out of order, the entire routine gets thrown on its head, and one of the first moves of the whole routine appears to be near the end of the routine! Although I do see what Mel B meant by calling their choreography "intricate," that comment becomes much more apparent watching their rehearsal video than the actual AGT footage!
Thirdly, the story was scrubbed. Given that half of the members are wearing black and white clothes, and how the black-clothed dancers had sinister-looking make-up; and how it looks like members are fighting in the middle of the routine (Those two guys catfighting before he gets his nuts shot cracks me up!) the story looks to be a classic good vs. evil story, with a cliffhanger ending... which you would otherwise be unable to tell from the edit, because everybody dances together anyway - black or white - with no hint of a conflict between both sides! The story was tarnished!
I feel bad for Str8jacket, because they clearly put a lot of time and effort into this routine, and THIS is how it gets edited! Call me weird for caring so much about a montaged JC act that you probably do not even remember, but this is a thread where users can vent their AGT frustrations, and this is one of my biggest ones.
Late addition: this makes me wonder how many more montaged dance acts got screwed in a similar manner, going from good - and even spectacular! - in the auditions to relatively mediocre come Judge Cuts. Four acts that come to my mind are Solto and T-Dot (Who are also featured in the montage above,) German Cornejo Dance Company, Dakota and Nadia, and ADEM Show.
What of their music, their choreography, and their stories?

What of their music, their choreography, and their stories?
On this video of Dakota & Nadia's judge cuts performance on youtube a comment says "They were amazing. I went to the taping and I was in tears. I’m actually super surprised they cut their dance like this. That is crazy." This makes way more sense than how the producers portrayed them, knowing their performances from France's Got Talent. I'm still mad that they didn't even show Dakota & Nadia's audition (and they definitely should have made it to the live shows, but that's a different debate).
Also, Julianne's comment toward Dakota and Nadia after their judge cuts performance about it not translating well on screen or being good enough for a big show in vegas seems really chopped up. I think that she might have had a positive reaction to the performance and the editors tried to change what she said.
