Celia Muñoz is a ventriloquist from Season 17 of America's Got Talent. She finished in 3rd place in her Semifinal week, but won her way back into the competition as the Wild Card for the Finals where she finished in the Bottom 6 of the Top 11.

Background[]

A trained opera singer, Celia got into ventriloquism over 2 years ago citing past AGT winners Terry Fator and Darci Lynne as her inspirations. She won the 6th season of Spain's Got Talent in 2021 where she received a Golden Buzzer.

Audition[]

Celia Muñoz's audition in Episode 1701 consisted of performing a ventriloquism routine where she throws her voice to a radio and a telephone while putting on makeup, flossing her teeth and drinking water. All 4 judges voted "Yes", sending Celia to the next round.

Celia was selected to advance to the Semifinals.

Semifinals[]

Celia Muñoz's Semifinals performance in Episode 1714 consisted of performing a ventriloquism routine where she sings "Hopelessly Devoted to You" from Grease while eating popcorn and ice cream, drinking a milkshake and blowing her nose. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations. She received enough votes to enter the Top 5 of the night in Episode 1715 instead of Mia Morris, and the Top 3 instead of Hayden Kristal and Amanda Mammana. She finished in 3rd place behind Sara James and Nicolas RIBS, eliminating her from the competition.


Wild Card[]

In Episode 1719, she was nominated by Sofia Vergara for the Instant Save Wild Card vote, receiving enough votes to return as the 11th finalist instead of Don McMillan, Players Choir and Lily Meola

Finals[]

Celia Muñoz's Finals performance in Episode 1720 consisted of combining magic and ventriloquism to make it look like the spirit of the great opera singer Maria Callas was brought back from the dead. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations.

Finale[]

For the finale in Episode 1721, Celia Muñoz performed a ventriloquist routine with Darci Lynne and Terry Fator. She did not receive enough votes to enter the Top 5, eliminating her from the competition instead of Kristy Sellars.

Trivia[]

  • Celia is the first ventriloquist to be eliminated at one point in the live shows since Todd Oliver in Season 7.
  • Celia won in a very close Wildcard vote against Don McMillan.

After The Show[]

In 2023, Celia auditioned on Spain's Got Talent: All Stars but did not advance to the final, losing a spot to fellow Season 17 semifinalist Stefanny & Yeeremy.
