Background[]

Darcy Oake is an illusionist from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and is the son of Scott Oake, a sportscaster for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). He finished in 5th place on the eighth season of Britain's Got Talent, also being the first magician at the time to advance to the Finals. After his success, he performed multiple times with the troupe The Illusionists, mainly when their tours stop in Canadian cities.

In December 2014, Oake hosted his own show, Darcy Oake: Edge of Reality, where he performed stunts in various Victorian playhouses.

In 2016, Oake was asked to by the Royal Family to perform amidst the Queen's 90th birthday celebrations, which he described as 'one of the most surreal moments of my life'.

Also in 2016, Oake appeared on the third season of the Italian competition series Tu Si Que Vales. [1]

In June 2017, Oake performed two shows in Winnipeg, the proceeds of which would go towards the construction of an addiction treatment centre in his hometown, after his brother Bruce Oake died of a drug overdose in 2011.

The Champions Preliminary[]

Darcy Oake's performance in Episode TC03  consisted of him bringing Howie Mandel and an audience member to the stage. Then he brought Heidi Klum to the stage and had Howie and the audience member hold her in the air. Darcy had Howie and the audience member remove their hands and left Heidi floating in the air. Simon Cowell and Mel B gave standing ovations, while Howie and Heidi couldn't because they were on stage.  Darcy did not receive enough votes to advance to the night's Top 3, eliminating him from the competition.

After the Show[]

In June 2017, he performed two shows in Winnipeg, the proceeds of which would go towards the construction of an addiction treatment centre in his hometown, after his brother died of a drug overdose in 2011. Oake competed on Britain's Got Talent: The Champions. After advancing to the Finals in week 3 of the Preliminaries, beating out fellow Champions participant DJ Arch JNR and BGT winner Richard Jones, Darcy finished in the Top 10.

After his appearance on BGT: The Champions (Series 1), Oake appeared on This Morning on Tuesday 17th September showing off two magic tricks to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield with one involving two mice and the other involving a coin. On Friday October 4th 2019, the day before the final of BGTC Oake appeared as a guest alongside Twist and Pulse on Good Morning Britain. He stated he was doing a show on Halloween and going on tour in 2020. To conclude his appearance on GMB he did a card trick, where he asked presenter Kate Garraway to pick a card as she picked The Ace Of Spades, he later asked if she wanted to swap her card yet did not and in turn stuck to it. He later removed the ace of spades from his wallet and dually unfolded it.

Four months later, Oake returned to the spotlight as the final guest on Good Morning Britain on Friday 28th February 2020, wherein he made host Kate Garraway seemingly 'disappear' before the days episode had ended. Co-host Ben Shepherd jokingly stated that viewers would have to wait until Monday to see if Kate would return to hosting or if she had truly 'disappeared.'

In 2023, Oake appeared on the tenth season of the Italian competition series Tu Si Que Vales.
