Dee Dee Simon is a singer from Season 19 of America's Got Talent.

Background[]

Dee Dee Simon is from Oakland, California. She is a registered nurse at San Quentin State Prison and has been since 2005. She has been singing for most of her life.

She also explained that when she first got to San Quentin State Prison, she sang however after she had finished singing a riot broke out and she had to triage every inmate. She also stated that she never sang on the job again until she was asked to do so by an inmate two months before her audition and fortunately there was peace after she had finished singing that time. Despite this she never told anyone at work that she’d be auditioning for the show and instead but told her family.

Audition[]

Dee Dee Simon's audition in Episode 1903 consisted of removing her shoes and singing Jennifer Holiday's, "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going.” from the movie, "Dreamgirls” whilst barefoot, a performance that she dedicated to everyone who was told they weren’t good enough as she possessed the knowledge that one day someone would find you and think otherwise. All 4 judges voted "Yes", sending her to the next round.
