Demian Aditya was an escape artist from Season 12 of America's Got Talent. He was eliminated in the Quarterfinals.
Background[]
Demian Aditya is from Jakarta, Indonesia. Born under the name Aditya Pambudhi on June 19, 1980, Demian Aditya began to learn self-taught magic at the age of 10 years. His career began when he followed Abang & None Jakarta Kepulauan Seribu in 2002 where he got two titles, namely Friendship Abang & Favorite Abang. In 2007 Demian starred in his first TV show at ANTeve, Demian Sang Illusionist, for two years. Then again brought the TV show, this time on SCTV, titled House of Demian.
After routinely being a guest star in the Begadang show on Trans7, in 2010. Demian returned to his show, Gara-Gara Magic, on the same TV station. After that, Demian filled many big TV shows in Indonesia, in addition to remain a guest star on other programs. In 2016, Demian presented Dream Secrets, a new program in Trans7, with Gus Way the dream taker and Poppy Amaliah Motivator. Publicity stunts have always been an obsession for Demian. Some of what has been done is the teleportation of a giant ball with a diameter of 8 meters and being buried in cement for more than 50 hours in 2015. [1]
Audition[]
Demian Aditya's audition in Episode 1201 consisted of having his ankles, wrists, and necked chained in a glassbox below a box of 900 pounds of sand. He attempted to escape in two minutes, after which the sand would fall on him. When he was not able to escape, the sand appeared to fall on him. Two assistants tried to break him free, but when they broke the glass, he was not buried in the sand. Demian then revealed himself as one of the assistants. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all voted "Yes", sending Demian to the Judge Cuts.
Judge Cuts[]
Demian Aditya's Judge Cuts performance in Episode 1207 consisted of having his body tied up in chains with a padlock cuff. He was then laid down into a box in a 10-foot-deep hole outdoors. A group of assistants then dumped sand into the hole as Demian had 90 seconds to escape. A camera in the box recorded Demian's escape attempt, but 60 seconds into the escape, the camera feed actually cut off. When the time ran out, Demian revealed himself to be one of the assistants that had been dumping sand. Demian's performance was strong enough for the judges to send him to the Quarterfinals along with Just Jerk.
Quarterfinals[]
Demian Aditya's Week 2 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1213 consisted of performing his "Death Drop" act. Suspended high above the stage, Demian climbed into a wooden box. He was handcuffed, and the lid of the box was nailed completely shut by his assistants. The only support keeping the box in the air was a rope. The rope was looped through pulleys and secured directly above a blowtorch. Demian attempted to escape before the rope burned through and the locks came crashing down onto three solid steel spikes lit on fire. Unfortunately, technical issues arose during the performance: the box failed to fall into the spikes when the rope was burnt through. Nevertheless, Demian appeared behind the judges with a fire extinguisher in hand. Mel B and Simon Cowell buzzed the act. Demian did not receive enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1214, eliminating him from the competition instead of Johnny Manuel.
After The Show[]
Later in 2017, Demian appeared on the fourth season of the Italian competition series Tu Si Que Vales [2]
In 2019, Demian competed on the World's Got Talent special held in China. He was the Judges' Choice winner on his Preliminary, which sent him to the Semifinals. Demian ended up being eliminated after finishing third in his Semifinal round, placing under a diabolo juggling group from Taiwan, and an erhu instrumental duo.
In the same year, Demian also competed on the ninth season of Australia's Got Talent, where he was eliminated in the Judge Cuts.
Between 2019 and 2020, Demian was a judge on the Indonesia's Magic Competition Show "The Great Magician" alongside fellow AGT Quarterfinalist, The Sacred Riana.
Trivia[]
