The first episode of Season 11, and the two hundred and forty-third episode of America's Got Talent overall, aired on May 31, 2016. It was the first of six auditions episodes. 10 acts from this episode proceeded to the Judge Cuts, and 5 acts were rejected. One act was sent straight to the Quarterfinals.

Episode 1101 was the debut episode of Simon Cowell as a judge, replacing Howard Stern. Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel returned as judges. Nick Cannon returned as host for his eighth season.
