Chase Goehring was a singer and guitarist from Season 12 of America's Got Talent. He finished in the Bottom 5 of the Top 10.

Background[]

Chase Goehring is from Nolensville, Tennessee. Before he decided to pursue music wholeheartedly, he was just a regular student who took piano lessons for fun. However, he started pursuing music in high school and found his first fans on YouNow. He taught himself how to sing and play ukulele and guitar. He began to write songs and upload YouTube videos for his fans who called themselves Chasers. [1] He competed on Season 3 of the US version of The X Factor, where he was eliminated in the Four Chair Challenge.

Audition[]

Chase Goehring's audition in Episode 1202 consisted of singing and rapping his original song "Hurt," a song about him wanting a chance with a girl in a bad relationship, while playing the guitar. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all voted "Yes," sending Chase to the Judge Cuts.

Judge Cuts[]

Chase Goehring's Judge Cuts performance in Episode 1208 consisted of singing an original song called "A Cappella" about himself and his artistry, while playing the guitar. Howie Mandel, Mel B, and guest judge DJ Khaled gave him standing ovations. Impressed by the performance, DJ Khaled pressed his Golden Buzzer for Chase, sending him straight to the Quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals[]

Chase Goehring's Week 3 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1215 consisted of singing and rapping his original song "Illusion"—a song about being in love with someone that doesn't feel the same way back—while playing the guitar. Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Simon Cowell gave him standing ovations. Chase received enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1216, along with Mike Yung.

Semifinals[]

Chase Goehring's Week 1 Semifinals performance in Episode 1217 consisted of singing his original song "What is Love" — a song about his friend that went through several bad relationships — while playing the guitar. Simon Cowell gave him a standing ovation. Chase finished in fourth, fifth or sixth place in America's Vote. In the Dunkin' Save, he received fewer online votes than Evie Clair. In the Judges' Choice, Heidi Klum did not vote for him but Mel B, Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel did, advancing him to the Finals in Episode 1218 instead of Eric Jones.

Finals[]

Chase Goehring's Finals performance in Episode 1221 consisted of singing his original song "Mirror" while playing the guitar. Mel B and Simon Cowell gave him standing ovations.

Finale[]

For the finale in Episode 1222, Chase performed "Say You Won't Let Go" with James Arthur after Evie Clair performed her original song "Okay Day" with James Arthur. Chase did not receive enough votes to advance to the top 5, eliminating him from the competition instead of Mandy Harvey.
