Duo Transcend was a trapeze duo from Season 13 of America's Got Talent. They finished in the Bottom 5 of the Top 10. Duo Transcend returned for AGT: The Champions 2 where they finished in 2nd place.

Background[]

Duo Transcend (Mary Wolfe-Nielsen and Tyce Nielsen) are married performers from Salt Lake City, Utah, who specialize in duo trapeze, aerial silk, tramp wall, diving, and acting.

They have been married for six years and met while performing as high divers in a show. They have a two-year-old son named Jaxx. [1]

Audition[]

Duo Transcend's audition in Episode 1304 consisted of performing an aerial trapeze routine to RAIGN's "Wicked Game". Although Mel B voted "No", stating she was not "wowed" by their performance, Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell voted "Yes", sending the pair to the Judge Cuts.

Judge Cuts[]

Duo Transcend's Judge Cuts performance in Episode 1307 consisted of performing an aerial trapeze routine, now incorporating fire. As the duo attempted to finish their performance with Tyce blindfolding himself, he was unable to catch his partner Mary, causing her to plunge down onto a safety mat on the floor. Fortunately, she was not seriously injured by her fall and was able to stand up on her own. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell, and guest judge Ken Jeong all gave them standing ovations, although they also advised against the duo's request to re-execute the unsuccessful part of their act. Their performance was strong enough for the judges to send them to the Quarterfinals along with Aaron Crow.

Quarterfinals[]

Duo Transcend's Week 2 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1313 consisted of performing a trapeze routine to 2WEI's cover of "Toxic" by Britney Spears. They re-attempted the same blindfold trick from Judge Cuts, which they successfully completed. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave them standing ovations. Duo Transcend received enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1314 instead of The Sacred Riana.

Semifinals[]

Duo Transcend's Week 1 Semifinals performance in Episode 1317 consisted of a trapeze routine to Hidden Citizens' version of "(I Just)" Died In Your Arms" by Cutting Crew, transitioning to doing tricks on roller skates amidst flames. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave them standing ovations. Duo Transcend finished in fourth, fifth or sixth place in America's Vote. In the Dunkin' Save, they received fewer online votes than Samuel J. Comroe. In the Judges' Choice, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell did not vote for them but Howie Mandel and Mel B did, forcing a tiebreaker; whichever act had received more votes from America would progress. They received more votes than Voices of Hope Children's Choir, advancing to the Finals in Episode 1318.

Finals[]

Duo Transcend's Finals performance in Episode 1321 consisted of performing a trapeze routine in which Tyce was completely blindfolded, backed by a quartet of drummers set to "Out of Time" by Hidden Citizens. In a role reversal, Mary dropped Tyce at the end of the routine. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave them standing ovations.

Finale[]

For the finale in Episode 1322, Duo Transcend performed tricks on the trapeze while Brian King Joseph performed a violin duet with Lindsey Stirling. They did not receive enough votes to advance to the Top 5, eliminating them from the competition instead of Zurcaroh.

After Season 13[]

The duo continued to perform across the country, taking their young son on the road with them. Some time between the end of Season 13 and the start of Champions 2, an eye surgeon reached out to Tyce and Mary personally to perform an operation that could stop the progression of Tyce's eye disease. The procedure was a success, and Tyce would no longer go completely blind.

The Champions 2 Preliminary[]

Duo Transcend's Preliminary performance in Episode TC201 consisted of performing a trapeze routine set to a cover of Phil Collins' "In The Air Tonight", including tricks where both Tyce and Mary were completely blindfolded.  Howie Mandel, Alesha Dixon, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell all gave them standing ovations.  They received enough votes from the Superfans to advance to the Semifinals instead of Dan Naturman & Paddy and Nicko.

The Champions 2 Semifinal[]

Duo Transcend's Semifinal performance in Episode TC205 consisted of performing a trapeze and roller skating routine with a circus theme set to "The Greatest Show" from The Greatest Showman, including a roller skating trick were Mary swung and twisted from Tyce's neck by her head while he was blindfolded.  Howie Mandel, Alesha Dixon, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell all gave them standing ovations. Duo Transcend finished in 6th or 7th place in the Superfan Vote. In the Judges' Choice, Simon, Heidi and Alesha unanimously voted for them, advancing to the Finals instead of Duo Destiny.

The Champions 2 Final[]

Duo Transcend's Final performance in Episode TC206 consisted of performing a fully-blindfolded trapeze routine set to Hidden Citizens' cover of A Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran".  Howie Mandel, Alesha Dixon, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell all gave them standing ovations.

The Champions 2 Finale[]

In Episode TC207, Duo Transcend participated in a mash-up act with Boogie Storm, Marcelito Pomoy and Sandou Trio Russian Bar, introduced by Hans. They received enough votes from the Superfans to enter the Top 5 instead of Boogie Storm. They finished the competition in 2nd place, ahead of Tyler Butler-Figueroa, Marcelito Pomoy and Sandou Trio Russian Bar, but behind V.Unbeatable.

After Champions 2[]

Duo Transcend returned in Episode 1516 as guests, performing a trapeze routine to "Till There's Nothing Left" performed by country singer Cam. They also performed in Episode 1618 together with Deadly Games.

In 2023, Duo Transcend auditioned for Spain's Got Talent: All-Stars but did not advance to the final.
