Background[]

Bir Khalsa is a group of more than 500 members, but they have 20 official members who are the group's best performers in Sikh martial arts. These performers have all been trained by the group's founder, Kawaljit Singh. Since he was five years old, Kawaljit Singh has had a zest for playing gatka (a Sikh martial art), and in 2000 he founded Bir Khalsa. He struggled financially over the years, and at times he had to demonstrate his skills on the roadside in exchange for food. But despite these years of struggle, he finally got his debut on India's Got Talent in 2009. Kawaljit Singh and his group of 15 members performed unbelievable stunts in the show and made it to the finals and became the first runner-up. They were also on Britain’s Got Talent Series 6 however their audition was never televised and it is unknown as to whether or not they advanced any further than the auditions. Bir Khalsa became famous and is dedicated to millions of youth in their country, spreading important messages to young people about drug abuse and more. The group's dedication and hard work has paid off, and they have performed on Sony TV, Zee TV, Colors TV, StarPlus, ETV Telugu, BBC, the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan and more.
