Voices of Hope Children's Choir was a choir from Season 13 of America's Got Talent. They were eliminated in the Semifinals in the Judges' Choice. They returned for America's Got Talent: All-Stars where they were eliminated in the Preliminaries.
Background[]
Founded in 2015, Voices of Hope Children’s Choir is a non-profit program made up of over 70 talented children, ages 5-17, of all backgrounds and levels of experience. In an effort to make music available to all children despite social or economic barriers, this program is entirely tuition free. Singing inspirational music, the goal of the choir is to uplift the spirits of all who listen and to learn positive self esteem and teamwork along the way. We hope to change the world one song at a time. [1]
One of the kids in the choir is a patient of fellow Season 13 act Michael Ketterer.
Audition[]
Voices of Hope Children's Choir's audition in Episode 1304 consisted of singing "This is Me" from The Greatest Showman. Although Howie Mandel voted "No", Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell voted "Yes", sending the group to the Judge Cuts.
Judge Cuts[]
Voices of Hope Children's Choir's Judge Cuts performance in Episode 1307 consisted of singing "How Far I'll Go" from Moana. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, Simon Cowell, and guest judge Ken Jeong gave the group standing ovations. Moved by their performance, Ken pressed the Golden Buzzer, sending the group directly to the Quarterfinals.
Quarterfinals[]
Voices of Hope Children's Choir's Week 2 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1313 consisted of singing "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman. Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell gave them standing ovations. They received enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1314 instead of The Savitsky Cats.
Semifinals[]
Voices of Hope Children's Choir's Week 1 Semifinals performance in Episode 1317 consisted of singing "Defying Gravity" from Wicked. Simon Cowell gave them a standing ovation. The group finished in fourth, fifth or sixth place in America's Vote. In the Dunkin' Save, they received fewer online votes than Samuel J. Comroe. In the Judges' Choice, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowell voted for them but Howie Mandel and Mel B did not, forcing a tiebreaker; whichever act had received more votes from America would progress. They received fewer votes than Duo Transcend, eliminating them from the competition in Episode 1318.
All-Stars Preliminary[]
Voices of Hope Children's Choir's Preliminary performance in Episode AS06 consisted of singing FOR KING & COUNTRY's "Together". They did not receive enough votes from the Superfans to enter the Top 3 of the night, eliminating them from the competition
After the Show[]
Voices of Hope returned as a guest for the finale of America's Got Talent: The Champions. They performed "All We Got" by Chance the Rapper with Britain's Got Talent winner Tokio Myers. They also appeared in the All-Stars finale performing Queen's "Who Wants To Live Forever" with Tom Ball.
Trivia[]
- Every performance the choir sang was a song written for a visual media, two songs from the motion picture The Greatest Showman, one song from the motion picture Moana and one song from the stage musical Wicked.
- They are the only Golden Buzzer since the format change in Season 10 to get a “No” Vote in the audition round.
- They are the first choir act to receive the Golden Buzzer. They would be followed by Angel City Chorale in the episode that aired after theirs, Detroit Youth Choir in Season 14, Voices of Our City Choir in Season 15 and Mzansi Youth Choir in Season 18.
- They are the furthest progressing Judge Cuts Golden Buzzer in Season 13, losing the Semifinals Judges Choice via the America Vote tiebreaker as well as the only one who wasn't eliminated immediately in either the Quarterfinals or Semifinals.
- They are the first (and to date) only Golden Buzzer act to lose a Judges Choice vote in a Semifinal.
