Jeffery Ou was a pianist from Season 4 of America's Got Talent. He was eliminated in the Semifinals.
Background[]
Jeffery Ou is a pianist from Carrollton, Texas. He was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and showed a remarkable gift for music as a very young child. His family moved to the United States when he was three and he began formal piano training at the age of six. Ou launched his competitive career at 13 when he won first prize in piano and was named 1 of 3 overall Grand Prize Winners at the 2004 North Texas Youth Music Competition.
Ou graduated from Newman Smith High School in Carrollton, Texas, where he was a member of many musical groups and orchestras. When not at school, or participating in competitions, he enjoys bringing his gift of music to nursing homes in the area where he lives. [1]
Audition[]
Jeffery Ou's audition in Episode 410 consisted of playing a piece on the piano very quickly. Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne both voted "Yes," sending Jeffery to the Vegas Round.
Vegas Round[]
Jeffery Ou appeared without performing in the Vegas Round. His audition was strong enough for the judges to send him to the Quarterfinals in Episode 412 instead of Rashida Jolley.
Quarterfinals[]
Jeffery Ou's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 417 consisted of playing Pachelbel's "Canon in D" and Elton John's "Saturday" on the piano. In the middle of his "Saturday" performance, however, one of Jeffery's background dancers kicked a cable out that led to an audio problem; Jeffery's piano playing could no longer be heard. Nevertheless, Jeffery received enough votes to be sent to the Semifinals in Episode 418 instead of BRI.
Semifinals[]
Jeffery Ou's Week 2 Semifinals performance in Episode 423 consisted of playing Franz Liszt's "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6" on the piano. Every time he hit keys on the piano, it turned on the lights in the background. Piers Morgan buzzed the act. Jeffery did not receive enough votes to be sent to the Finals, eliminating him from the competition in Episode 424 along with Erik and Rickie.
