Background[]

John Wing is from Canada. He grew up in a small town where it was not feasible to do comedy. Eventually, he moved to Los Angeles. A few years later, he had become a drug addict. Because he stopped being funny for a year or two, he gave up drugs.

John Wing's comedy career spans over two decades and includes six Tonight Shows, nine Just For Laughs Comedy festivals, Five Winnipeg Comedy festivals, and over 150 television appearances. He can be heard on CBC radio's The Debaters, and is a contributor to Definitely Not The Opera. Last year he created, co-wrote, and starred in the CBC radio sitcom, Man, Woman, & Child. Audition[]

John Wing's audition was never televised, but Howie Mandel was not present for it. Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Howard Stern all voted "Yes", sending John to the Vegas Round.

Vegas Round[]

John Wing was sorted into the "Comedian" category in the Vegas Round. His performance in Episode 808 consisted of joking about the differences in parenting from his father, who grew up during the Depression, and himself, a modern father, such as modern dads giving kids time-outs and his dad taking a time-out from being exhausted beating him up. John's performance was strong enough for the judges to send him to the Quarterfinals along with Taylor Williamson in Episode 809.

Quarterfinals[]

John Wing's Week 5 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 818 consisted of joking about his having two teenage daughters, schools not correcting incorrect spellings, and parents speaking in three-word sentences to their kids. John finished in either fourth or fifth place in America's Vote in Episode 819. In the Judges' Choice, although Heidi Klum did not vote for him, Howard Stern, Mel B, and Howie Mandel did, sending John to the Semifinals instead of Duo Resonance (although Duo Resonance would immediately after be given a Wild Card).

Semifinals[]

John Wing's Week 2 Semifinals performance in Episode 822 consisted of joking about him being a husband and how wives view themselves as often right while husbands tend to be considered naturally stupid by their wives. John did not receive enough votes to be sent to the Finals in Episode 823, eliminating him from the competition along with Illusionist Leon Etienne and Romy Low, instead of Kenichi Ebina.
