Jonah Smith is an acclaimed singer-songwriter that is based in Los Angeles, CA. He pulls from the deep well of American blues and many of its offshoots, including soul, country, and folk. Smith is essentially a songwriter with the voice of a soul singer. Smith’s song, “Big Umbrella” has received substantial airplay on SiriusXM Coffeehouse. He has shared the stage with other artists like Martin Sexton, Los Lobos, & Little Feat. 1

Audition[]

Jonah Smith's audition in Episode 906 consisted of performing an original piece titled "Skyscraper Blues" with his band. Howard Stern, Heidi KlumMel B, and Howie Mandel all voted "Yes," sending Jonah to Judgment Week.

Judgment Week[]

Jonah Smith was sorted into the "Music Groups" category in Judgment Week. Unfortunately, his performance was delayed when the band's drummer was unable to perform. Jonah eventually managed to find a friend to replace the drummer. The band's performance in Episode 908 consisted of Jonah singing "Can't Find My Way Home." Jonah Smith's performance was strong enough for the judges to send the group to the Quarterfinals in the same episode.

Quarterfinals[]

Jonah Smith's Week 4 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 915 consisted of singing Sam Smith's "Stay With Me." Jonah Smith received enough votes to be sent to the Semifinals in Episode 916 instead of Bad Boys of Ballet.

Semifinals[]

Jonah Smith's Week 2 Semifinals performance in Episode 919 consisted of singing OneRepublic's "Love Runs Out." Heidi Klum and Mel B gave the band standing ovations. Jonah Smith did not receive enough votes to be sent to the Top 12 Finals, eliminating the group from the competition in Episode 920 instead of Mat Franco.
