Jonathan Burkin was a baton twirler from Season 3 of America's Got Talent. He was eliminated in the Semifinals.
Background[]
Jonathan Burkin has been baton twirling since he was 9 years old. He went through tough times when he was younger, as his peers would mock him for his stereotypically feminine hobby.
Audition[]
Jonathan Burkin's audition in Episode 301 consisted of twirling and juggling flaming batons to "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and David Hasselhoff all voted "Yes", sending Jonathan to the Vegas Round.
Vegas Round[]
Jonathan Burkin was one of the Variety Acts in the Vegas Round. He was sorted into the "Kid Acts" category. His performance in Episode 308 was not fully televised, but it consisted of twirling flmaing batons to Kenny Loggins' "Footlose." Jonathan's audition was strong enough for the judges to include him in the Top 60 shortlist and to later send him to the Top 40 Quarterfinals in Episode 309.
Quarterfinals[]
Jonathan Burkin's Part 3 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 312 consisted of twirling and juggling flaming batons to Elton John's "I'm Still Standing." In the middle of his performance, he spun a baton around his neck. Jonathan received enough votes to be sent to the Semifinals in Episode 313 instead of Texas State Strutters.
Semifinals[]
Jonathan Burkin's Part 2 Semifinals performance in Episode 315 consisted of twirling and juggling flaming batons while surrounded by pinball machines, all to The Who's "Pinball Wizard." Jonathan finished in either fifth or sixth place in America's Vote. In the Judges' Choice, although Sharon Osbourne voted for him, Piers Morgan and David Hasselhoff both did not, eliminating Jonathan from the competition in Episode 316 instead of Joseph Hall.
