Jourdan Blue is a singer in Season 20 of America's Got Talent.
Background[]
Jourdan Blue is from New Orleans, Louisiana. Growing up, Jourdan found a passion for singing, however, he initially viewed it as more so a hobby in comparison to a career. As he grew up, Jourdan sang in church and joined theatre in high school. Jourdan’s mom was a cop and his dad was a lawyer and he believed this may have potentially contributed to his rebellious streak in his teenage years. Furthermore, in his teenage years Jourdan fell in with the wrong crowd and was kicked out of school which lead to him going between bouts of homelessness, sofa surfing and sleeping in bathrooms of his workplaces until one night his grandpa John found out and took him in, with Jourdan still residing with him and harbouring a positive relationship with him to this day.
During quarantine, Jourdan began writing his own music and posting singing videos until one night in 2021, a friend of his called to tell him that they had sent one of his videos to the producers of American Idol. Jourdan had a Zoom call set up between himself and the interested producers to perform on the 22nd season of American Idol and once the competition ended with his performance being left untelevised, Jourdan quit his job so as to pursue a full time music career. Jourdan would later begin busking locally and making a decent amount of money before pursuing bigger things by posting his music online on a daily basis and live streaming, the latter of which he found himself making much more money off of the back of, however, his dream of becoming a professional musical artist and passion for singing always remained. Jourdan busks to support both his girlfriend and their son Jax. After a tragic attack happened where he busked earlier in the year, Jourdan became motivated by the realization that life was too short not to chase his dreams.
