Journeyy was a singer and pianist from Season 19 of America's Got Talent. He finished in the top 5 of his Quarterfinal week.
Background[]
Journeyy Belton is from New Jersey and he has been singing since August 2023. Journeyy often performs covers of popular songs on his social media platform and whenever his father refreshes the page there is a frequent set of more views and comments.
Before his performance, Simon Cowell was shown a video of Journeyy singing by a friend which saw Simon reach out to the producers by sending them the video that he had been shown in an attempt to get Journeyy on the show. After having done so, Simon found out that the production team had already found Journeyy beforehand and he had already applied for the show.
Audition[]
Journeyy’s audition in Episode 1908 consisted of performing an original entitled “Paradise” while playing the piano. All 4 judges voted “Yes”, sending him to the next round.
Deliberations[]
Journeyy was selected to advance to the Quarterfinals.
Quarterfinals[]
Journeyy's Quarterfinal performance in Episode 1913 consisted of singing a ballad version of Bob Marley's "Three Little Birds" while playing the piano. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave him standing ovations. He received enough votes to enter the top 5 of the night in Episode 1914 instead of Sabrina, but did not receive enough votes to advance to the Semifinals, eliminating him from the competition along with Maya Neelakantan instead of Reid Wilson, Kelsey Jane and Learnmore Jonasi.
Trivia[]
- Journeyy is friends with fellow Season 19 singing act Reid Wilson who acquired Howie Mandel’s second Golden Buzzer.
