Kristy Sellars was a pole dancer from Season 17 of America's Got Talent. She finished the competition in 2nd place. She returned for America's Got Talent: Fantasy League, competing on Howie Mandel's team where she was eliminated in the Semifinals.

Background[]

Kristy Sellars is a mother of three from Australia. She studied all styles of dancing and one day decided to try pole dancing. She fell in love with the idea of combining the other styles of dance with pole dancing. Fifteen years later, Kristy is known around the world for her unique and innovative performances. She creates her shows from scratch and then works with animator Jan Zavadil to bring her visions to life. She juggles her personal and work life as best as possible and in 2019 won "Australia's Got Talent" performing her unique pole act with video background. Her dream is to win "America's Got Talent" and create a full-length immersive show to perform in Vegas.

Kristy Sellars' audition in Episode 1704 consisted of performing a pole dance routine to 2WEI's cover of Ray Charles' "Hit the Road, Jack". All 4 judges voted "Yes", sending her to the next round.

Kristy was selected to advance to the Semifinals.

Semifinals[]

Kristy Sellars' Semifinals performance consisted of performing a dual pole dance routine that transported her through fantasy worlds. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations. She received enough votes to enter the Top 5 of the night in Episode 1719 instead of Blade 2 Blade and Shu Takada, and the Top 3 instead of Kristen Cruz and urbancrew (Flyers of the South). She advanced to the Finals along with Mayyas instead of Mervant Vera.

Finals[]

Kristy Sellars' Finals performance in Episode 1720 consisted of performing a dual pole dance routine set to Tom Walker's "Leave a Light On" dedicated to her daughter. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations.

Finale[]

For the finale in Episode 1721, Kristy Sellars performed a dance collaboration with Mayyas. She received enough votes to enter the Top 5 instead of Celia Muñoz. She finished in 2nd place, ahead of Drake Milligan, Metaphysic and Chapel Hart, but behind Mayyas.

Fantasy League Semifinals[]

Kristy Sellars' Semifinal performance in Episode FL05 consisted of pole dancing to a cover of Imagine Dragons' "Believer" telling a story inspired by her autistic son. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Simon Cowell all gave her standing ovations. She did not receive enough votes to enter the top 3 of the night, eliminating her from the competition.

Trivia[]

  • Kristy is the first pole dancer to advance to the live shows since Steven Retchless in Season 6, and the first to reach the final.
  • She is the highest placed non-Golden Buzzer act of the season.
  • Her Season 17 Semi-Final performance was pre-recorded due to the amount of time needed to set up the equipment for her performance.
  • As runner-up, Kristy also won a new car.
