Lightwave Theatre Company was a multimedia act from Season 15 of America's Got Talent. They were eliminated in the Quarterfinals.
Background[]
Lightwave Theatre is a Romanian independent visual theater company specializing in life-size puppet shows for adults. In seven years of activity, Lightwave has been selected to step on national and international stages in Great Britain, Croatia, Germany, Turkey, Bulgaria and more.
In 2013, Cristina-Andreea Ion founded Lightwave Theatre and imagined a visual theater company with shows for the adult public, an unexplored Romanian artistic niche for independent companies. Petru Stratulat, a radio presenter from Bucharest, embraced the idea, and together they launched the company.
Lightwave Theare Company's first play premiered in 2014. Titled Reflection, it was a nonverbal play with four puppets that is still being performed today on national and international stages. The group went on to approach Romanian poet Iulian Tanase for the rights to use one of his books in a very complex play with seven life-size puppets. This is how the play Loverphysics came to life.
For the next two years, Lightwave Theatre toured Romania and a few European countries, performing Reflection and Loverphysics. In 2017, Lightwave Theatre launched its third production, It's Me, Annabel, starring Constantin Cotimanis, who gave them the Golden Buzzer at Romania's Got Talent in 2015.
The company loves to combine different types of artistic expression to deliver its message: "We are stepping in uncharted territory of the Romanian artistic landscape, carving our own path."
Audition[]
Lightwave Theatre Company's audition in Episode 1507 consisted of telling a story using puppetry and on-screen imagery about a girl and her dog. Heidi Klum was not present, but Howie Mandel, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell all voted yes, sending them to the next round.
Judge Cuts[]
Lightwave Theatre Company automatically advanced to the Quarterfinals without performing in Episode 1508, though their verdict was not televised.
Quarterfinals[]
Lightwave Theatre Company's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1515 consisted of continuing their audition story, putting emphasis on how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the main characters. Howie Mandel buzzed the act. The group did not receive enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1516, eliminating them from the competition along with Alex Hooper instead of Broken Roots.
