Phil Trau was a tap dancer from Season 5 of America's Got Talent. He was eliminated in the Vegas Round.

Background[]

A retired teamster, Phil decided to audition for America's Got Talent with a tap dance routine he had first performed 53 years ago. His wife joked that if he won the million dollars, she would get a face lift.

Audition[]

Phil Trau's audition in Episode 510 consisted of tap dancing on miniature stairs to "Bye Bye Blackbird" and ending with a split. Piers Morgan buzzed the act (but later retracted his buzz). Piers, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel all voted "Yes," sending Phil to the Vegas Round.

Vegas Round[]

Phil Trau was one of the Judges' Favorites in the Vegas Round. He was sorted into the "Dance Acts" category (sighted briefly practicing with The Hot Shot Tap Dancers). His Vegas audition in Episode 511 was never televised, but his audition was not strong enough for the judges to send him to the Quarterfinals, eliminating him from the competition.
