Background[]

Quintavious Johnson is a singer from Franklin, Tennessee. Quintavious's mother Yolanda knew he could sing at the young age of only 11 months. He was in the grocery cart when his mother started to hum a song and he hummed the exact tune back. With Yolanda amazed, this led to Quintavious joining his church Lime Stone Baptist Choir at the young age of Five.

Quintavious is currently honing his musical talents by taking vocal lessons. His favorite singers that inspire him are Whitney Houston, Shirley Caesars, Jennifer Hudson, Donny McClurkin, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, and more. He has sung the National Anthem for the Nashville Sounds, Franklin Cowboys and hopes to get to sing it for the Tennessee Titans. He loves to share his voice with the world. 1

Quintavious Johnson's audition in Episode 906 consisted of singing Beyonce's "Listen." Although Howard Stern voted "No" (this vote was not televised), Heidi KlumMel B, and Howie Mandel voted "Yes," sending Quintavious to Judgment Week.

Judgment Week[]

Quintavious Johnson was sorted into the "Kid Singers" category in Judgment Week. His performance in Episode 907 consisted of singing "Who's Lovin' You." Quintavious's performance was strong enough for the judges to send him to the Quarterfinals along with Julia Goodwin in Episode 908.

Quintavious Johnson's Week 4 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 915 consisted of singing Jennifer Hudson's "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going." Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B, and Howie Mandel all gave him standing ovations. Quintavious received enough votes to be sent to the Semifinals in Episode 916 instead of Mothmen Dance.

Quintavious Johnson's Week 2 Semifinals performance in Episode 919 consisted of singing Etta James' "I'd Rather Go Blind." For the finale in Episode 924, Quintavious Johnson sang "And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going" in a duet with Jennifer Hudson. Quintavious was revealed to have finished in fifth place in the competition that same night, in front of Miguel Dakota, but behind Mat Franco, Emily West, AcroArmy, and Sons of Serendip

In 2024, Quintavious Johnson will appear on Season 22 of American Idol.

  • Quintavious Johnson was the only finalist of Season 9 to have received four standing ovations from the judges at the end of each of his live performances.
  • Quintavious was the highest progressing act of Season 9 who received a "No" vote in their audition.
  • He was also the highest progressing montage act of Season 9.
  • After the upset reaction from the audience, Quintavious was offered a consolation prize: a vacation to Universal Studios in Orlando,Florida. He was therefore the first finalist since All That! and The Millers in Season 1 to receive a consolation prize in the Finals.
  • He was the highest placing kid act of the season.
