RiRia was a flautist from Season 14 of America's Got Talent. They were eliminated in the audition round.

Background

Born in 1994 in Tokyo, RiRia (formerly known as Riria Niimura) started the recorder at the age of three and the flute at the age of six. Until today, they already won numerous prizes including the Grand Prix at Japan Classic Music Competition twice, Japan Percussion Competition, Maxence Larrieu International Junior flute Competition, Biwako International Flute Competition, in all of which they were the youngest prize winner. RiRia participated in Rampal International Flute Competition at the age of 13 and they were the youngest contestant. At the Japan Flute Convention Competition, they won the first prize and the Yoshida Masao prize. In March 2009, they took part in the German Flute Festival in Munich, Germany. They also won the gold prize at the World Classic Music Competition in Taiwan and performed at the gala concert of the competition in Carnegie Hall in April 2009.

RiRia has performed at “la Folle Journee au Japon”, a TV program called “Concert without Title”, to name a few. Since they made a debut with a professional orchestra at the 4th grade of elementary school, they performed with major orchestras in Japan such as Tokyo Symphony Orchestra and abroad. As one of the most sought-after enchanting flutists, RiRia frequently appears in TV programs and national newspaper/magazines and attracts the audience.[1]

Audition

RiRia's audition in Episode 1404 consisted of playing the flute to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody."  Although the full verdict was not televised, Simon Cowell and at least one other judge voted "no," eliminating them from the competition.
