Season 20 of America's Got Talent premiered on May 27, 2025. Howie Mandel, Simon Cowell, and Sofia Vergara all returned as judges, along with Terry Crews who returned as host. Mel B made her return as a judge on the main series, replacing Heidi Klum.
Italian coffee company Lavazza is the official beverage sponsor for the second year in a row, having their logo on the judges' cups.

Each act that performed in front of the judges was given 2 minutes to demonstrate their talents for the judges. If an act received at least three "Yes" votes from the judges, they were accepted to the next round. Otherwise, they were eliminated from the competition.

Quarterfinals[]

From the acts that moved past the Deliberations, 11 acts performed over each of 4 weeks. The judges got the power to send one act each week directly to the Final via the Golden Buzzer, while 3 of the remaining acts would be chosen via the public vote to advance to the Semifinals.

- This season marks the return of Mel B since Season 13 on the main show and Fantasy League on the spin-off shows.
- It is likely that Mel returned as Heidi was working on the 21st season of Project Runway, which conflicted with the taping schedule for AGT.
- There was a significant reduction in standing ovations given by Sofía Vergara during the live shows, including her two Golden Buzzer acts in the Season 20 Quarterfinals even when all 3 other judges did. Fans are speculating this is due to her undergoing knee surgery for a second time in July 2025.
