Shanice and Maurice Hayes are a daughter-father vocal duo from Kansas City, Missouri. Maurice has performed all over the world with the Air Force Band. Maurice and Shanice have been performing together for five years, mostly at retirement homes. 1
Audition[]
Shanice & Maurice Hayes's audition in Episode 701 consisted of singing "You've Got a Friend" together. Howard Stern, Sharon Osbourne, and Howie Mandel all voted "Yes," sending them to the Vegas Round.
Vegas Round[]
Shanice & Maurice Hayes were one of the Judges' Favorites in the Vegas Round. They were sorted into the "Vocal Groups" category. Their performance in Episode 712 consisted of singing "Let the Good Times Roll." At one point in their performance, however, Maurice slipped up on the song's lyrics. Nevertheless, their audition was strong enough for the judges to send them to the Quarterfinals along with Eric & Olivia.
Quarterfinals[]
Shanice and Maurice Hayes' Quarterfinals performance in Episode 714 consisted of singing "There You'll Be" together. They received enough votes to be sent to the Semifinals in Episode 715 instead of Michael Nejad and Nikki Jensen.
Semifinals[]
Shanice & Maurice Hayes' Semifinals performance in Episode 728 consisted of singing "Anytime You Need A Friend." They did not receive enough votes to place in the Top 4 that night, eliminating them from the competition in Episode 729 along with All That!, instead of Lightwire Theater.
