Simon and Maria was a salsa duo from Season 15 of America's Got Talent. They were eliminated in the Quarterfinals.
Background[]
Simon was born in the small city of Medellin, Colombia, but raised in Linden, New Jersey. Simon grew up practicing karate and it wasn't until his sister Yara started dancing that his mom forced him to take dance classes to learn something new. As soon as he learned his first dance step, he fell in love with it.
Maria was born in Cali, Colombia, and was 4 when she moved to Elizabeth, New Jersey. When Maria was 6, her grandfather Julio brought her to the Quimbara Dance Studio. Later on, her dance teacher put her and Simon together to dance. They performed at a worldwide competition in Florida and won first place. Together, they hope to fulfill their dreams on AGT!
Audition[]
Simon and Maria's audition in Episode 1502 consisted of salsa dancing. Howie Mandel, Heidi Klum, Sofia Vergara, and Simon Cowell all voted "Yes", sending them to the next round.
Judge Cuts[]
Simon and Maria's Judge Cuts performance in Episode 1508 consisted of salsa dancing to Ray Barretto's "Guarare". Their performance was strong enough to advance to the Quarterfinals.
Quarterfinals[]
Simon and Maria's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 1509 consisted of salsa dancing to Pitbull's "Bad Man". They did not receive enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1510, eliminating them from the competition along with Pork Chop Revue instead of Roberta Battaglia.
