Sonia Lee was an electric violinist act from Season 1 of America's Got Talent. She was eliminated in the Semifinals.
Background
As a winner of the New York Young Artists Competition, Sonia made her recital debut at age 11 where she made her New York recital debut. Sonia continued her studies under the tutelage of Yakov Boroditsky, who helped her to achieve her solo concerto debut at age 13 with The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra performing the Mozart Concerto No. 5 under Maestro Bychkov. Audition
Sonia Lee's audition in Episode 103 was never televised. It is unknown whether or not she was buzzed, but at least two judges voted "Yes," sending Sonia to the Semifinals.
Semifinals
Sonia Lee's Week 3 Semifinals performance in Episode 108 consisted of performing "Carmina Burina" on the electric violin. Although Piers Morgan gave Sonia an "X" vote, Brandy Norwood and David Hasselhoff both gave her "✓" votes. Sonia did not receive enough votes to finish in at least second place in America's Vote, eliminating her from the competition in Episode 109 instead of Bianca Ryan and Nathan Burton.
After the Show
Sonia has also recently won accolades for her film scores-Her soundtrack for the film 'RAISED ALONE' was honored with the Best Film Score award at the 2010 Detroit Film Awards directed by Sam Kadi. [2]
