Sonia Lee was an electric violinist act from Season 1 of America's Got Talent. She was eliminated in the Semifinals.


Sonia Lee is from Detroit, Michigan. She was only a teenager when she performed at Carnegie Hall. She then went on to debut with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and entered Juilliard. Sonia then became the youngest principal violinist with the Toronto Symphony at age 21. She then went on to perform with the Three Tenors, Joni Mitchell, Billy Joel, Chantal Kreviazuk, Rod Stewart, Brian Wilson, Diana Ross, Chris Botti, Raine Maida, Paul McCartney, and many more. [1]


Sonia Lee's audition in Episode 103 was never televised. It is unknown whether or not she was buzzed, but at least two judges voted "Yes," sending Sonia to the Semifinals.


Sonia Lee's Week 3 Semifinals performance in Episode 108 consisted of performing "Carmina Burina" on the electric violin. Although Piers Morgan gave Sonia an "X" vote, Brandy Norwood and David Hasselhoff both gave her "✓" votes. Sonia did not receive enough votes to finish in at least second place in America's Vote, eliminating her from the competition in Episode 109 instead of Bianca Ryan and Nathan Burton.

After the Show

Sonia has also recently won accolades for her film scores-Her soundtrack for the film 'RAISED ALONE' was honored with the Best Film Score award at the 2010 Detroit Film Awards directed by Sam Kadi. [2]
