Steve Richards was an Elton John impersonator act from Season 3 of America's Got Talent. He was eliminated in the audition round.

Background

Steve Richards performs his tributes to Neil Diamond as well as Elton John, Garth Brooks and Elvis. After sixteen years of performing to rave reviews, and standing ovations, Richards decided after a nine-year hiatus to jump back into entertaining live audiences -- to slip back into what he loves best...performing.

Steve was looking through an entertainment publication that made mention of auditions or a lead vocalist to create a tribute to the work of Neil Diamond. He found Diamond very difficult to re-create. So, after several months studying the clips of Diamond "in concert," he felt he had mastered the art of transforming his talents into an electrifying Neil Diamond experience.

With Neil under his belt, Steve took on re-creating the sounds of Elton John, Garth Brooks, and Elvis to boot. Commonly heard at his shows the appreciative "incredible," "electrifying," "uncannily accurate", Etc. People were saying that watching Steve's tributes were "Like watching that performer brought to life as big, bold, hypnotic, and INTENSE, as the master himself." 1

Audition

Steve Richards's audition in Episode 302 consisted of singing "Rocket Man" while playing the piano while dressed as Elton John. Unfortunately, he lost his place in the song at the beginning of the performance; in response, Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, David Hasselhoff all buzzed the act. All three judges voted "No", eliminating Steve from the competition.
