America's Got Talent Wiki

The Brown Brothers were an impressionist duo from Season 17 of America's Got Talent. They finished in the Top 5 of their Semifinal week.

Background[]

Gabe and Nate are Navy veterans both with high-functioning autism. The two are very popular artists of the 'Nerdcore' genre on the internet, with the brothers running the 'Black Gryph0n' and 'Baasik' channels respectively. Gabe has accumulated over 4,000,000 subscribers over his 17 year history on YouTube, getting the opportunity to collab with several popular artists and creators on the platform. Gabe's most popular song to date is 'Insane,' a song based around the character of Alastor from Vivienne Medrano's widely successful animated series Hazbin Hotel, who Gabe provided the singing voice for in the show's 2019 pilot; he further reprised the role for the song 'Heaven 2 Hell' in collabs with Charlie Morningstar's singing voice, Elsie Lovelock, another widely successful Nerdcore artist and voice actor.

Brown also provided the vocals for the viral internet song 'Beep Beep I'm a Sheep', featured in the tenth episode of Thomas 'TomSka' Ridgewell's sketch comedy series Asdfmovie. Though not as popular with only 500k subscribers, Nate has also worked with several popular artists while continuing to help his brother with music; he has also created his own original music and covers of pre-existing songs.

Audition[]

The Brown Brothers' audition in Episode 1703 consisted of Gabriel performing a medley of songs in the voices of various characters, which were chosen by the judges and Terry. Nate played the songs on a piano and joined his brother in a duet for the final song. All 4 judges voted "Yes", sending them to the next round.

Deliberations[]

The Brown Brothers were selected to advance to the Semifinals.

Semifinals[]

The Brown Brothers' Semifinals performance in Episode 1712 consisted of singing "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman in the voices of various characters and celebrities including Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Gollum, Donkey (Shrek), Elmo, Venom, Blake Shelton, Simon Cowell, The Bee Gees and Bon Jovi. Heidi Klum gave them a standing ovation. They received enough votes to enter the Top 5 of the night in Episode 1713 instead of Fusion Japan, but did not receive enough votes to enter the Top 3, eliminating them from the competition along with Duo Rings instead of Yu Hojin, Maddie and Chapel Hart.

After The Show[]

  • Gabe voiced the character of Barnaby in the upcoming musical-platformer game 'Billie Bust-Up.' In addition to this role, he was also the primary singer of Barnaby's song 'A Million Gruesome Ways To Die.'
  • Gabe’s Five Nights at Freddy’s song ‘Stuck Inside’ became a popular online meme in 2023, in which people made their own custom verses for the song.
  • Gabe's song 'Insane' was used as apart of the Fortnite emote 'Reaper's Showtime'.
  • Gabe has continued to reprise his role as Alastor from the Hazbin Hotel pilot, doing so in the songs 'Thank You And Goodnight' and 'Daisies'. The former song was made in collabs with a majority of the voice cast of Hazbin's pilot, and was released both to commemorate the premiere of Hazbin Hotel on Amazon Prime and as a farewell to the pilot cast (who came together to create the song upon learning of their recasts).

Controversy[]

Grooming Allegations[]

In late 2023, a call-out post towards Gabe was made[1], accusing him of grooming his now-wife, Claire Corlett (voice of Sweetie Belle from the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic TV series), who met Gabe, 25 at the time, when she was only 14 years old. Katie Nelson, creator and director of the upcoming indie game 'Billie Bust Up', which Gabriel is set to feature in as the character Barnaby, was seen defending Gabriel in leaked Discord messages, saying that there is no proof that the grooming allegations were true[2]. Many people didn't trust her. Later, Katie released a document called "Black Gryph0n Response" in which she continued to defend Gabriel, saying that if Claire and Michelle Creber, another alleged victim of Gabe,[3] have no problem with his relationships then no one should. The response wasn't well-received, with people accusing Katie of manipulating her child audience. People also accused Gabe of racism, using a past video of Gabe's as a source, which Katie brushed it off with Recency Bias by saying it was ok because of the video's age (9 years old).[4] People then showed evidence of Gabe liking and making politically incorrect posts on Twitter, where she stated that he addressed the incident.[5] Gabe's involvement in the game, as well as Katie's open defence and near-ignorance of Gabe's actions have since resulted in multiple calls for people to boycott Billie Bust-Up.[6]

Many argued that due to Claire and Gabe meeting each other when Claire was young, he groomed her into marrying him over the years, as there are images and videos of them together when Claire was just a Teenager and he was in his 20's, meaning he had been in a relationship with her since at least 2015. Michelle also said that her own parents are 10 years apart, so its okay.[7] Allegedly, Gabriel has also silenced another of his victims, Destiny Doodles after threatening her with legal action upon speaking out[8], as well as having previously finding her home address and sending it in the mail.[9] This ended up leading to Destiny deleting her X account, and deleting most of her posts regarding the controversy. Gabe has since faced massive backlash for his past actions, choosing to never address the allegations properly, attempting to sweep everything under the rug to protect his reputation, and for successfully silencing one of his victims. As stated by an anonymous employee at Mob Entertainment, creators of the Poppy Playtime franchise, the company did an internal investigation into Gabriel, who composed and performed the songs for the monsters introduced in the game's fourth chapter. The company found the allegations towards Gabe to've been true and Mob chose to cut ties with Brown.[10]
