The Brown Brothers were an impressionist duo from Season 17 of America's Got Talent. They finished in the Top 5 of their Semifinal week.

Background[]

Gabe and Nate are Navy veterans both with high-functioning autism. Gabe is the more well known of the two, running a YouTube channel called 'Black Gryph0n', which has accumulated over 4,000,000 subscribers over its 17 year history. Gabe is most famous for providing vocals in the song 'Beep Beep I'm a Sheep', from TomSka's ASDFMovie YouTube series, and the singing voice for Alastor in the pilot of the animated series, Hazbin Hotel.

Audition[]

The Brown Brothers' audition in Episode 1703 consisted of Gabriel performing a medley of songs in the voices of various characters, all of which were chosen by the judges and Terry. Nate played the songs on a piano, and joined his brother in a duet for the final song. All 4 judges voted "Yes", sending them to the next round.

Song & Character combination chosen by the Judges, in order of appearance.
Judge Song Character
Sofia Tiny Dancer Kermit the Frog
Heidi Photograph Donald Duck
Howie Drops of Jupiter SpongeBob SquarePants
Simon Someone You Loved Simon Cowell
Terry You Will Be Found Ben Platt

Deliberations[]

The Brown Brothers were selected to advance to the Semifinals.

Semifinals[]

The Brown Brothers' Semifinals performance in Episode 1712 consisted of singing "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman in the voices of various characters such as Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Gollum, Donkey, Elmo, Venom, Blake Shelton, Simon Cowell, The Bee Gees and Bon Jovi. Heidi Klum gave them a standing ovation. They received enough votes to enter the Top 5 of the night in Episode 1713 instead of Fusion Japan, but did not receive enough votes to enter the Top 3, eliminating them from the competition along with Duo Rings instead of Yu Hojin, Maddie and Chapel Hart.

After The Show[]

  • Gabriel played the character of Barnaby in the musical-platformer game "Billie Bust-Up." In addition to this role, he was also the primary singer of Barnaby's song 'A Million Gruesome Ways To Die.'
  • Gabe reprised his role as Alastor from the Hazbin Hotel pilot for the song 'Thank You And Goodnight.' The song (made and written after the pilot cast learned of their re-casting over a year ago) was made to commemorate the premiere of Hazbin Hotel, and is sung by the entire cast of the pilot. The reason the song had not been made as early as it was written, was due to the recasts not being officially announced at the time. Brown had also reprised the role of Alastor for two other original songs created by him, 'Insane' and 'Heaven 2 Hell', which were both made prior to his and Nate's AGT appearances.
  • There was some controversy going around that Gabe was a groomer, as he had supposedly groomed his wife Claire Corlett when she was 14. Although, it has since come out that this is simply a hate campaign against Gabe, as there has been no proper evidence to prove his actions.

Trivia[]

  • The Brown Brothers are the first non-impersonator singing impressionist act to advance to the live shows along with Merissa Beddows.
  • Gabe voiced Metaphysic's artificial intelligence version of Simon for their collaboration act with Mike E. Winfield in Episode 1721. He also voiced the Simon puppet for Season 18 act Puppet Simon & The Cow Belles.
    • Coincidentally, Gabe would be reunited with Merissa in the act's Semifinals performance where she voiced a puppet version of Sofia.
