The James Gang were a vocal group from Season 3 of America's Got Talent. It was eliminated in the Semifinals.

Background[]

The Harlem James Gang (consisting of Jellyroll James, Deacon Boondini, Prince Julius, and Dandy Wellington) is a throw-back Neo Vaudevillian performance troupe. The members combine dance, theatre, song and magic in their live show. THJG fuse the sounds of the 20's and 30's with hip-hop creating an original sound scape.

Since the inception of the Harlem based group in 2006, they have performed all across the globe and have been featured in several magazines and newspapers alike.

The Harlem James Gang has performed for the likes of Madonna, Ralph Lauren, John Legend, Fashion Rocks, Rock the Vote and a host of corporate events all around the world including Absolut Vodka, Toyota, to name a few. 1

Audition[]

The James Gang's audition in Episode 304 consisted of singing an original song while dancing. Piers Morgan, Sharon Osbourne, and David Hasselhoff all voted "Yes", sending the group to the Vegas Round.

Vegas Round[]

The James Gang was one of the Music Acts in the Vegas Round. The group's performance in Episode 308 was not fully televised, but it consisted of rapping about the group being serious and not playing around. The James Gang's audition was strong enough for the judges to include it in the Top 60 shortlist and to later send it to the Top 40 Quarterfinals in Episode 309.


Quarterfinals[]

The James Gang's Part 1 Quarterfinals performance in Episode 310 consisted of singing and dancing with small magic tricks. It finished in either fifth or sixth place in America's Vote. In the Judges' Choice, Piers Morgan and Sharon Osbourne both voted for it, sending it to the Semifinals in Episode 311 instead of Elite.


Semifinals[]

The James Gang's Part 1 Semifinals performance in Episode 314 consisted of singing Ray Charles' "Hit the Road Jack" as a group while dancing and portraying the story of a man kicked out of his house by his wife. The James Gang did not receive enough votes to be sent to the Top 10, eliminating the group from the competition in Episode 316 along with Extreme Dance FX.
