Those Funny Little People were a dance group from Season 6 of America's Got Talent. They were eliminated in the Quarterfinals, but they returned for the Wild Card Show, where they were eliminated again.
Background[]
In 1976, Dave Gregoire and Sarah McNulty came up with an act for a local fund-raiser. They were inspired by Dave’s original 1st place Halloween costume. A few years later, Dave and Sarah were stitching together sophisticated characters who could lip-sync, show off their dance moves, and make people laugh at nightclubs, sporting events and a few private parties. Eventually, Dave and Sarah quit their day jobs, and by the mid ‘80’s hired about 10 more performers, mostly relatives and friends.
Today the company has over 30 employees and a 3,500 square foot facility housing it’s offices, dance and recording studios, costume shop and warehouse. The Little People average over 1,500 shows a year. Although they call Chicago home, the Little People have performed in over 30 states, and in China and Puerto Rico. Dave Gregoire and Sarah McNulty-Polarek remain at the helm of their company committed to quality family entertainment. 1
Audition[]
Those Funny Little People's audition in Episode 604 consisted of cartoon-like, troll-like dancers dancing and lip synching to "Ice Ice Baby." Piers Morgan buzzed the act. Although Morgan voted "No," Sharon Osbourne and Howie Mandel both voted "Yes," sending the act to the Vegas Round.
Vegas Round[]
Those Funny Little People were one of the Judges' Favorites in the Vegas Round. They were sorted into the "Novelty Acts" category. Their performance consisted of lip synching and dancing to "Whatever Lola Wants." Their audition was strong enough for the judges to send them to the Quarterfinals along with The Kinetic King.
Quarterfinals[]
Those Funny Little People's Quarterfinals performance in Episode 613 consisted of lip synching and dancing to "Singin' in the Rain" and "It's Raining Men." Piers Morgan buzzed the act. The act did not receive enough votes to finish in at least fifth place in America's Vote, eliminating the act from the competition in Episode 614, resulting in Piers to cheer for this while Nick replied, "That was not nice, Piers!"
Wild Card[]
Those Funny Little People were brought back by Howie Mandel for the Wild Card Show. Their performance in Episode 623 consisted of lip synching and dancing to "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)." Piers Morgan buzzed the act once again. The act did not receive enough votes to finish in at least fifth place in America's Vote, eliminating them from the competition in Episode 624 along with Avery and the Calico Hearts and Charles Peachock, instead of The Kinetic King.
Trivia[]
- Piers Morgan strongly disliked Those Funny Little People, as it would repeatedly show that he thought the act was one of the most pathetic things he ever had to watch. Howie Mandel even pranked him once by shoving all of the gnomes into his dressing room.
- Piers Morgan buzzed every single performance (excluding Season 6 Vegas Round due to no buzzers allowed) of Those Funny Little People.
- They are briefly referenced to in Season 7 by Howard Stern after Big Barry's quarterfinal performance, stating Howie Mandel put them into the live shows over someone more deserving.
