Tia Simone was a singer from Season 11 of America's Got Talent. She was eliminated before the Judge Cuts.

Background[]

Tia Simone was born and raised in Michigan, where she developed her passion for music at a very early age. Her mother overheard her humming the entire Happy Birthday song without missing a note or a beat at 16 months—before she could even speak! Tia's mother recognized her musical talent early and influenced her to listen to many different genres while growing up, including Mozart, The Temptations, The Beatles, Anita Baker, and James Brown. Tia's only vocal training in her early years was in choir at the Episcopal Church, where she was an active participant. The choir exposed her to classical music.

Tia was exposed further to classical and jazz music at Michigan State University when she was accepted to the Classical Performance Program. The program was an essential step in Tia's journey to fulfill her passion of music because it made her realize that her true passion was in jazz, funk and soul. With her new found desire, Tia packed her things, including her cat, and moved to California in 2004. Tia's hope in California was to connect with amazing and creative musicians like her.

Currently Tia resides in Los Angeles, CA where she can be heard singing at various clubs and venues with her bands Vaud and the Villains, her cover band, Backtrax as well as singing backup for rap artist Toni Monroe. Crowds at the House of Blues in Hollywood, Fais Do Do, Harvelles in Long Beach, The Key Club, Club Nokia and Mbar in Hollywood have had the pleasure of experiencing her sultry sound and high energy.
