Zurcaroh were an acrobatic group act from Season 13 of America's Got Talent. They are the runners-up of the competition.

Background

The acrobatic group of Zurcaroh was founded in 2009 by Brazilian Peterson da Cruz Hora. With the formation of this show group, Peterson brought a new form of gymnastics to Vorarlberg – a mixture of dance, gymnastics and acrobatic elements. Every show is an unforgettable experience. The various choreographic routines fascinate the audience with their colorful costumes and amazing stage designs. Zurcaroh presents diverse cultures and facets of our Earth through expressive dance and spectacular acrobatic components, accompanied by rousing rhythms. The performance of this group is always a high point at balls, celebrations, work parties or other events, triggering mass excitement and leaving behind a lasting impression. For a few moments, the audience is carried away into a magical world. [1]

Zurcaroh previously made it to the Finals in France’s Got Talent, after receiving a Golden Buzzer in their audition.

Audition

Zurcaroh's audition in Episode 1301 consisted of performing acrobatic feats such as twirling two young girls across all of the members while some were motioning their arms in a directed pattern. Then, they twirled one of the members around like a jump rope as one of the other performers jumped over her, and ending off the performance by swinging young girls onto towers of the members catching them as they threw her across the stage. Amazed by the performance, host Tyra Banks pressed her Golden Buzzer to send Zurcaroh straight to the Quarterfinals.

Quarterfinals

Zurcaroh's Week 3 Quarterfinals in Episode 1315 consisted of performing a routine inspired by the story of the Garden of Eden. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave them standing ovations. Zurcaroh received enough votes to advance to the Semifinals in Episode 1316 instead of UDI.

Semifinals

Zurcaroh's Week 1 Semifinals performance in Episode 1317 consisted of performing an acrobatic dance routine based on a theme of ancient civilizations, set to Karl Jenkins' "Adiemus". Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave them standing ovations. Zurcaroh received enough votes to advance to the Finals in Episode 1318 instead of Junior New System and Front Pictures.

Finals

Zurcaroh's Finals performance in Episode 1321 consisted of performing a routine telling the story of peace and friendship between two cultures set to "Baba Yetu" by Christopher Tin. Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum, and Simon Cowell all gave them standing ovations.

Finale

For the finale in Episode 1322, Zurcaroh did an encore performance of their audition routine that won the Golden Buzzer from Tyra Banks. They received enough votes to advance to the Top 5 instead of Duo Transcend. Zurcaroh finished the competition in 2nd place, ahead of Brian King Joseph, Samuel J. Comroe and Michael Ketterer, but behind Shin Lim.

After the Show

On December 10, 2019, Zurcaroh participated in the 2019 Royal Variety Performance in London, in the presence of Prince William and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge

Trivia

  • Zurcaroh is the first act in Got Talent history to receive a Golden Buzzer in both America's Got Talent and one of the international versions of the franchise. Coincidentally enough, in both instances, it was the show's host that gave them the honor (David Ginola in France and Tyra Banks in the U.S.). They were followed by Emanne Beasha, who received her first on Arab's Got Talent, and her second on Season 14 on the last week of Judge Cuts from a guest judge.
  • They are also the first acrobatic group act to receive a Golden Buzzer on AGT.
  • They were the highest-placing Golden Buzzer act of the season.
  • They are also the highest-placing group act in the show's history along with Silhouettes from Season 6 and Detroit Youth Choir from Season 14.
